The Brand Identity and Design function is a key part of the AT&T Brand Marketing and Advertising team. Our goals are to create an iconic brand identity that unifies all we do through the strategic management of the company’s brand identity, to create brilliantly designed experiences that resonate deeply with people by infusing confident creative direction into customer experiences and touchpoints, and to develop pace-setting brand innovations inspired by an understanding of people’s true needs through injecting design thinking and customer insights into every stage of development for new products and services.

 

TRAINING & SPECIAL SKILLS:

 

This candidate should have:

Excellent communication and partnership skills.

Experience creating corporate identity and brand design, and a basic understanding of the theory that supports it, including the management of brand identity systems, and the interpretation of brand architecture into signature systems and product attribution.

Understanding of design thinking, as well as various marketing communication channels and their strengths and limitations

Passion and curiosity for how brands and society influence each other.

Strong presentation skills. Using words and images to create narrative help facilitate understanding. Experience in workshop facilitation is a real plus.

Familiarity with basic business strategy and comfortable discussing how brand and business impact each other.

Fluency in the use of the Microsoft office suite as well as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat

Job Description

 

The Senior Manager, Brand Identity and Design will foster strong partnerships with consumer business units to help them strategically leverage the AT&T brand identity in the day to day execution of our brand identity. You will help business units integrate our identity into their offerings. You will create briefs, provide creative direction and design process management, and resolve challenging brand identity issues. You will work with other AT&T Designers to set a new high bar for quality and creative excellence.

 

Principle responsibilities:

 

50% Brand identity consultation: you will be a valued partner

You will work with AT&T businesses to understand their strategic objectives and will be responsible for ensuring our brand identity program effectively supports and enables these objectives, and the individual marketing teams are able to act as the first line of brand identity and design support.

You will help internal stakeholders and external agencies uphold quality, consistency and alignment across all initiatives.

You will act as a strategic liaison between the AT&T business and the supporting creative agencies, evaluating work and sharing feedback.

You will act as a brand identity resource within the AT&T Design community.

You will deliver programs that educate and inspire AT&T businesses and their agencies on the effective use and potential of our brand identity.

You will have the skills necessary to communicate ideas and sell concepts, with an aptitude for negotiation.

You must demonstrate strong social skills and the ability to "win others over" to ideas without coercion, using relationship-based, emotionally intelligent persuasion. A deep respect for collaboration and partnership is a must

 

30% Brand identity innovation: you will help evolve our brand identity

You will help create best practices and processes to assist with the management of the brand identity program.

You will bring the expression of our brand to life through the creation and evolution of guidelines, frameworks, and systems that help us more effectively manage and implement our brand identity.

You will work closely with AT&T business partners to help them and their agencies develop brand identity solutions that meet their strategic objectives and are aligned with the AT&T brand strategy

 

20% Brand Identity oversight: you will help ensure consistent and correct use of our identity

You will be a key part of brand identity oversight through the support of the consumer AT&T Brand Center team, providing clarity in the interpretation of our guidelines and addressing escalations from Brand Center.

You will have the ability to identify and hold firm on the key “non-negotiable” branding points while conceding less significant issues. You will provide ongoing feedback to the Brand Identity team regarding challenges in executing the current Identity system and suggestions for improvements.

 

5 years’ experience in agency/design consultancy environment or internal brand management organization.

3 years’ experience leading creative strategy

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills

 

Education Preferred/Desired:

Undergraduate degree in Communication Design or Marketing/Advertising
