Fatigue & Fracture Analysis Engineer

The Fatigue & Fracture Analysis Engineer is responsible for fatigue analysis and test support for a Bell Helicopter military helicopter program.

Fatigue & Fracture engineering personnel are responsible for establishing structural component lives, inspection and replacement intervals, establishing structural testing requirements, providing telemetry monitoring support for flight test, and analyzing flight test data to ensure safety of flight and continued operational readiness.

The successful Fatigue & Fracture engineer is familiar with structural mechanics, fatigue, and fracture mechanics. Fatigue & Fracture engineers interface with structural analysis, design, materials, and processes organizations, structural test laboratories, flight test, and military and civil qualification/certification authorities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performing fatigue initiation and crack growth analyses to establish structural component retirement lives or inspection intervals
  • Providing point solutions to real-time aircraft and system issues
    Writing / reviewing technical reports
  • Establishing schedules, working within schedules and budgets, and generating and validating project estimates as defined by the team leader
  • Identifying issues that prevent expected progress of a project
  • Maintaining technical liaison within his/her group, related functional areas and external customers/suppliers/certification authorities
  • Assisting with the development of analytical tools and group work procedures/processes

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering.
  • Equivalent degree discipline will be considered with direct and specific aircraft fatigue and fracture mechanics experience

Position Requirements:

  • At least 2 years specific fatigue and/or fracture mechanics
    -OR- At least 4 years experience aircraft structural mechanics
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Must be detail oriented
