Aerodynamics/Handling Qualities Engineer

The Aerodynamics/Handling Quality Engineer is a multi-discipline engineer to support Bell Helicopter’s V-22 Flight Technology IPT, with the maintenance and improvement of the V-22 GTR (Generic Tilt-Rotor) flight simulator math model.  The math model is utilized by our Marine and Air Force customers to provide a high-fidelity simulator training environment for the war fighter.  In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to gain multi-discipline experience with aerodynamic performance analysis, flight test data analysis, fleet support analysis, and control law development geared towards load limiting and handling quality improvements.  This position is based at Bell Helicopter's Ft. Worth, TX headquarters facility.


Position Responsibilities:

- Implement VMS (Vehicle Management Software) control law changes on an annual basis based on design improvement
- Implement Math Model Improvement Requests based on the working group priorities
- Address discrepancy reports from the trainer community 
- Participate as an integral member of the math model working group
- Analyze CAFTA flight test data to determine use cases for model Proof of Match
- Conduct real-time simulator flight sessions to validate code updates
- Integrate blade element model and tune to available data
- Support performance calculations for product improvements and new programs like Improved Inlet Solution and Navy COD

Education Requirements:

 

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Masters Degree is preferred.

Position Requirements:

• PC proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is preferred.
• At least 4 years associated experience.  • Previous experience in GTR/Simulation and CAFTA is preferred.
Experience with Fortran Coding is a plus.
• Must have the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Must have the ability to prioritize a variety of assignments.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
