Aerodynamics Performance Engineer

The Aerodynamics Performance Engineer III performs aerodynamic analysis and air vehicle performance analysis at the conceptual design level in the Bell Helicopter Advanced Tiltrotor Systems organization. The position is located at Bell Helicopter’s Ft. Worth, TX headquarters facility.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform aerodynamic and air vehicle performance analyses at the conceptual design level for next generation tiltrotor aircraft.
  • Coordinate with Bell engineers and technologists in other disciplines to gather the necessary data for analysis, and to fully understand the implications of the analysis and results.
  • Work through the details of the analytical codes.
  • Modify the analytical codes when necessary, and develop new analysis tools when new methods are necessary for concept analysis.
  • Make logical conclusions and recommendations from the detailed results.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Masters Degree is preferred.
Position Requirements:
  • This position requires at least 3 years demonstrated experience in aerodynamic performance analysis.
  • Specific experience with preliminary design codes and/or physics based models along with rotorcraft analysis experience is required.
  • The key discriminator for this position will be an aptitude for in depth analysis, and the ability to make conclusions and recommendations from the performance analysis.
  • Strong communication skills are required, especially those used for PowerPoint presentations to internal Bell and external government customers.
  • The candidate must have the ability to prioritize a variety of assignments and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Wind tunnel model testing and data reduction experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong programming skills required.  Familiarity with one (prefer multiple) of the following: C , FORTRAN, MATLAB, Simulink, Visual Basic programming in Excel is required.
  • The selected candidate for this position must have (or be able to obtain) a SECRET Clearance.
