• This position is accountable as assigned by the Chief, Test Engineers, for design and development, implementation, checkout and operation of various test machines and fixtures required for certification of Drive System aircraft components.
• The test machines and fixtures are required for mechanical testing to verify the structural and dynamic integrity of helicopter components.
• Contained in these tasks are requirements for record keeping, documentation and helicopter component assembly/installation.
• Additional functions include the performance of acceptance tests, interaction with test technicians in the assembly and disassembly of Drive System components, preparing laboratory test procedures, verbal and written reporting of test results.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for design, building, coordination and testing of aircraft components, fixtures and tooling required to conduct tests.
• Interact with test engineers and laboratory technicians to ensure that assigned Drive System Test Laboratory test program requirements in the lab facilities are fulfilled.
• Interact with personnel in other laboratories to ensure a coordinated effort is maintained on assigned test involving other laboratories.
• Interact with Manufacturing, Transportation, Maintenance, Paint Shop, Quality, Dispatching, Tooling and various other departments of Bell Helicopter Textron to ensure continued support of assigned tasks.
• Interact with outside authorities to support aircraft certification.
Required Education:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Position Requirements:
• At least 4 years experience in design and development of mechanical systems
• Capable of developing mechanical concepts, drawings, reports, specifications in order to make, assemble, build, operate and repair test machines that accomplish certification of aircraft components or systems.
• Must be able to be a leading member of the test laboratory requiring teamwork and collaborative problem solving in a multi-team environment.
• Must be willing to travel (less than 5%).
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and computer aided drafting (CATIA preferred).
Preferred Experience:
• Experience in a mechanical test lab environment
• Experience in aircraft design and assembly of mechanical systems
