Fatigue and Fracture Engineer - Fire Scout Program

The Fatigue and Fracture Engineer position is based at Bell Helicopter’s Ft. Worth, TX headquarters facility. This position involves fatigue analysis and test support for the Fire Scout Program. Fatigue & Fracture engineering personnel are responsible for establishing structural component lives, inspection and replacement intervals, establishing structural testing requirements, providing telemetry monitoring support for flight test, and analyzing flight test data to ensure safety of flight and continued operational readiness.

Position Responsibilities:
• Perform fatigue analyses to establish component retirement times and inspection intervals.
• Interface with structural analysis and design organizations, materials & processes, structural test laboratories, flight test, manufacturing, and military qualification authorities.
• Monitor structural testing and flight testing to ensure safety of flight and continued operational readiness.
• Write and review technical reports.
• Work within schedules and budgets, and generate and validate project estimates as defined by the team leader.
• Identify issues that prevent expected progress of a project.
• Assist with the development of analytical tools and group work procedures/processes.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering – or equivalent discipline – is required.
Position Requirements:

• A minimum of at least 2 years experience with fatigue and fracture mechanics.
• Experience using analytical software tools such as FLASH, CAFTA, AFGROW or other related software.
• Strong analytical ability is required.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and articulate technical data and concepts to a wide audience of individuals of different technical backgrounds.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Structural stress analysis experience including knowledge of structural mechanics and experience with NASTRAN/PATRAN is a plus.
• Experience with Enovia is preferred.
• Previous experience working on cross functional engineering programs is preferred.
