System Safety Engineer

The System Safety Engineer is responsible for planning, defining and verifying
System Safety requirements to ensure design integrity and safety for certification.

The selected individual will work as a member of an integrated engineering team to
Ensure effective Systems Safety Engineering efforts are conducted through
Identification and analysis of potential hazards from concept definition through
development, production and product fielding.
Fault tolerance/redundancy identification/evaluation in system hardware/ software
Work in accordance with and provide guidance to the Integrated Product Teams
regarding safety assessment processes defined in Society of Automotive Engineers
(SAE) Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) 4761 and 4754A form
14 CFR 29.1309.
Perform the necessary hazard analysis to identify potentially hazardous conditions and recommend actions that would contribute to the minimization or prevention of hazards.
Administer System Safety activities on assigned program IPTs. Interface with the
certification authorities and IPT Teammates on safety related issues.

Education:
Bachelor Science in applicable Engineering Discipline (EE or ME desired)

Experience:
• At least 5 years experience in a Aerospace environment required – additional
• experience is strongly preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable and experienced with 1309 compliance using ARP4761
• Requires experience with key artifact development including at least 2 of the
• following: PSSA, SSA, CMA, FHA, FMEA or FTA.

Demonstrated ability to conduct the following:
• Quantitative reliability and maintainability analysis
• Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
• Preliminary Systems Safety Analysis (PSSA)
• Systems Safety Analysis (SSA)
• Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA)
• Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Review of supplier supplied Safety Assessment Reports
• Tests, Plans, and Reports in accordance with Best Practice, Certification Standards
• and other references
• Common Cause Analysis (CCA): Common Mode Analysis (CMA), Particular Risk
• Analysis (PRA), Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA)
• Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)

• Desired experience with aircraft Electrical and/or Avionics Systems
• Desired knowledge of ARP4754A
• Strong analytical ability is required
• Must have strong computer skills using Microsoft office
• Must possess a high level of verbal and written communication skills
• Must have good organizational skills
• Good time management skills
• Must have the ability to multi-task
• Must be able to set priorities and evaluate financial impact
• Effectively communicate with all levels of management
