OVERVIEW
The Lead Engineer’s primary responsibility is to oversee the efficient operation of all building systems and to inform the Chief Engineer and General Manager of any condition affecting building services and Tenant or Client safety and comfort.
Leads shift operations and directs vendors and subcontractors. Utilizes advanced skills to perform complex preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, equipment and grounds. Working under limited supervision, monitors building system operations and performance. Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling. Specific areas of responsibility include Tenant or Client services, preventive maintenance, assisting the Chief Engineer in the supervision of the crew (including staff development), purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, and following the Firm’s guidelines regarding general maintenance practices.
The Lead Engineer is responsible for protecting and improving the value of the Owner’s or Client’s asset, and ensuring that the building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Additionally the Lead Engineer is expected to have knowledge of codes, laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of the facility, and be able to implement and assist in activities regarding the reduction of liability to the Client, Owner and Jones Lang LaSalle.
