Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer

The Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) Engineer focuses on managing instrumentation requirements/expectations specific to aircraft for Bell Helicopter’s FVL Program. This position will provide engineering support in the way of direction, mentoring, documentation and metric reporting in pursuit of accurate flight test instrumentation data in accordance with program needs.

 
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the improvement of the Flight Test team though continuous learning, innovative ideas and the like in order to improve efficiency and reduce overall cost and schedule.
  • Early identification of issues, efficiently resolve problems and incorporate risk mitigation planning.
  • Provide work instructions, direction and support for maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading all related instrumentation systems.
  • Manage documentation including updates to procedures, distribution of meeting notes, metric reporting, use of reporting tools, distribution of schedule updates/status and maintain proper instrumentation configuration documents.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of specialized Bell developed software applications.
  • Ensure FTI data is accurate and complete.
  • Focus on safety in every area of Flight Test Instrumentation.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university is required.
o Masters Degree is preferred.

Position Requirements:
• At least 2 years experience in flight test instrumentation is required.
• Experienced in creating and reviewing flight test instrumentation electrical drawings and procedures is required.
• Must be experienced with the different types, use and implementation of the standard suite of flight test sensors.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Must have the ability to interact well in a team environment.
• Good organizational skills are required.
• Must be able to travel as needed between Bell Helicopter’s Arlington, TX and Amarillo, TX facilities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the selection, implementation, configuration, programming and troubleshooting of Teletronic Technology Corporation (TTC) hardware is strongly preferred.
