Data Link/Communications System Engineer

Bell Helicopter - Fort Worth, Texas

The Data Link/Communications Systems Engineer is responsible for design, integration, and test of the communications systems required to meet program and customer defined requirements. This position is located at Bell Helicopter's headquarters facility in Ft. Worth, TX.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop communications system, including voice and data links, requirements and work with IPTs to coordinate aircraft level impacts and requirements.
  • Develops and maintains system level specifications for all systems, coordinates with Air Vehicle and Mission Equipment team for system integration, testing, and verification.
  • Develop communications and data link systems to meet program requirements for stores, safety, and performance.
  • Plans and perform test and verification activities including: system performance, environmental qualification, safety, and production functional tests.
  • Work closely with IPTs to review evolving design and provide input into their decisions, providing.
  • Perform system level and aircraft level analysis to validate performance requirements.

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.  Aerospace or Mechanical engineering degrees may be considered with significant experience.

-  Masters Degree is preferred.

 

Position Requirements:

·         At least 10 years experience in airborne communications systems, including systems design, integration, and testing is preferred.

·         Experience with US Military Unmanned Aircraft Systems is required, preferably Group 3 - Group 5 programs.

·         Experience with currently fielded data links, to include: Link-16, MADL, SADL, CDL, TCDL is required.

·         Phased Array and Dish Antenna interface and integration experience is required.

·         Must have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively to coordinate and lead activities, prioritize tasks, and report status.

·         Must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams.

·         Familiarity with aerospace design and verification processes to include; requirements development and verification, preliminary and detailed design, MRP, Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement and Maintenance processes is preferred.

·         PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.

·         Must have the ability to work effectively within a team.

·         Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

·         Active Secret Clearance is preferred. Successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD Security Clearance.
