Manager, IPT Engineering – Rotors and Drives
 
The Manager, IPT Engineering – Rotors and Drives is responsible for leading the design, schedule, budget, development, integration, procurement, build, and team execution of all rotors and drive system tasks for Bell Helicopter aircraft.  This positions supports Bell Helicopter’s H-1 Program, and is located at the company’s Ft. Worth, TX headquarters facility.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Drive execution of rotors and drives systems design, analysis, and integration in the integrated program team environment.
  • Responsible for the technical performance, cost, and schedule related to vehicle design, analysis, manufacturing, procurement, contracting, and systems integration.
  • Direct design and integration activities, coordinating project deliverables and schedules, and reporting status to program management.
  • Lead the team in the design and analysis of rotors and drives throughout entire product design lifecycle including trade studies, conceptual design, preliminary design, detail design, engineering release, technical reviews, and revision change management.
  • Lead the design team coordination with the manufacturing centers to improve, resolve, and monitor manufacturing issues.
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting technical performance, cost, and schedule material for major design and requirements reviews to program management and engineering technical community, including NAVAIR.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.  Major in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
  • Masters Degree in one of the technical disciplines mentioned above - or in Business Administration - is preferred.
 
Position Requirements:
  • 10 years of experience in aircraft design, integration, fabrication, assembly, test, certification / qualification and supplier management is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing & coordinating multidiscipline teams including; engineering, manufacturing, tooling, MRB, quality and supply chain management is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing aircraft suppliers during development phase of aircraft program is required.
  • Experience with rotorcraft drives systems integration, development, and testing is preferred.  H-1 Aircraft Drives experience is a plus.
  • Must be a proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with excellent foresight and problem solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to delegate, prioritize tasks and work assignments, mentor direct reports, and identify and provide opportunities for career development for direct reports.
  • Must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams to complete design, analysis, and program tasks.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, and have the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Previous experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.
