Inspects installations, and proper functioning of equipment, parts, and structures of entire aircraft. Determines from manual or by visual inspection or with special testing equipment, proper standards and specifications of mechanisms and motors, instruments, materials and finishes, operations of and workmanship on, all parts of entire aircraft. Obtains specifications from complicated blueprints, research and experimental designs, engineering orders, etc. Directly responsible for complete and final inspection of each aircraft for safe and proper functioning and subsequent flight tests. Prepares flight inspection reports and all other necessary data for complete and inspection prior to customer acceptance and final delivery. Approves acceptable work, or rejects any work which fails to meet required standards and recommends corrective action to prevent recurrence. Rechecks when corrective measures have been completed. May aid, guide, or assist lower classified inspectors in an advisory capacity in proper inspection methods and procedures and may check their work for accuracy and acceptability.
 
Tools & Equipment Used:
 
Inspector’s hand and marking tools, mechanic’s hand tools, precision measuring instruments, devices and equipment. Variety of specialized equipment and alignment instruments.
 
Three years flight inspection experience in final assembly or aircraft work, with some experience in engine test and groundwork.
 
Must possess current A&P License.
