Landing Gear Systems Engineer opportunities are available at Bell Helicopter for the V-280 Future Vertical Lift Program. These positions may be located at Bell Helicopter’s headquarters facility in Ft. Worth, TX or the Bell Flight Research Center in Arlington, TX.
 
Position Responsibilities:
 
The Landing Gear Systems Engineer is responsible for:
  • Developing landing gear system requirements for brakes, steering, and retract/extend actuation in both hydraulic and electric-actuated architectures
  • Conducting design and analysis of the landing gear system components and integrating these components into the aircraft with interfacing systems
  • Managing supplier development and qualification efforts
  • System design, requirements management, systems specifications, interface management, system safety assessment, verification and validation testing, aircraft functional and flight test, and aircraft/system qualification and certification

Education Requirements:

 

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or closely related field) is required. 

- Masters Degree is preferred.

 

Position Requirements:

 

• Experience at all levels will be considered with a minimum of 2 years specific experience with landing gear systems integration, development, and testing.  At least 5 years experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with model based systems engineering

• Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and military and industry standards for landing gear system design

• Familiarity in using computational design computer software: CATIA V5/V6.

• Experience with creation of system specifications, requirements traceability, and verification.  Preferred experience with Enovia and DOORS.

• Generation of System Safety Assessments, Failure Hazard Analysis, and Certification and Test plans.

• Experience with landing gear system development and testing

• Experience with aircraft installation, functional testing, and troubleshooting

• Candidates must be eligible to obtain Secret Security Clearance
